Fruit Tree

Just popping in to give this guy praise. He had a lot of fruit drop earlier this summer, but he’s blossoming again and has some actually decent-sized fruit.

I’ve noticed some blossoms on the Kaffir tree! I wasn’t expecting anything from it this year, fruit-wise, as it’s still small and was transplanted. but it seems to be doing beautifully.

I’ve wanted a Kaffir Lime tree ever since we took a trip to Thailand in 2016. As luck would have it, they were some of the few citrus available at our local nursery. The leaves smell amazing – I can’t wait to cook with them. I have a delicious recipe for thai curry paste, and using lime leaves and rind from our own tree would just be icing on the cake.
I’m not sure when/how is the best time to harvest the leaves; I’ll have to do some more research on that.
This guy was planted in a super sweet old wine barrel on the deck.
