I planted more of these and they promptly caught powdery mildew and are dying again. It hasn’t even rained here in months??

These guys caught the powdery mildew from the purple peas and unfortunately met an untimely demise. They’re supposed to be resistant to the fungus… But resistant doesn’t mean immune I suppose. I took out the infected plants, sprayed a baking soda concoction to keep the fungus at bay, and replanted just the Sugar Daddy snaps. They’ve sprouted and are a few inches tall, so I’m hoping to get some more peas before the summer is over.

These plants are coming along nicely. They aren’t growing as tall or as quickly as the purple peas, but they look less leggy and have very nicely shaped leaves. Haven’t tried one yet, but maybe early next week.

These were not soaked prior to planting and sprouted about a week later than the purple peas. I still have 10 seeds left; I may plant some more.

These guys were sowed on Feb. 23 in the front veggie beds, next to the Sugar Magnolia Snap Peas.
